On May 30, Deephaven Chief of Police Cory Johnson submitted a message to parents on NextDoor defining what makes an e-bike legal and informing them that their children under age 15 can’t legally operate them.

The Tonka Bay city council recently held meetings to summarize the nine-month process, take emotional testimony, questions and opinion from residents and finalize plans for the relocation of the Native American burial soil currently located at the Tonka Bay City Hall parking lot.

Per Shorewood city staff, “Shorewood’s Water Enterprise Fund is projected to run a negative balance by 2026, reaching an approximate $4.5M deficit by 2035 if current policies remain unchanged.”   On June 9, the Shorewood City Council discussed options for funding and expanding municipal water.

During the Shorewood City Council work session on May 12th, a discussion regarding the proposed council “bylaws” revealed some stark differences regarding roles, responsibilities and the relative authority of elected members.

During the April 28th Shorewood meeting, the council discussed a proposed amendment to the subdivision ordinance, for 2.5 hours, before tabling it for future consideration.    Two relevant questions: - Where did this proposal originate? - What is the ultimate purpose of the proposed amendment?

Hennepin County has scheduled a trail project from Chanhassen to Excelsior along Mill Street in 2026.   Shorewood city council needs to determine whether to include a water main in its portion of the project, how to charge property owners and to create a city-wide municipal water policy.

On 11/25/2024 the Shorewood council hashed over the ongoing dilemma of the underwater municipal water fund.   It discussed incentives for residents, who have existing “stubs” to connect to the municipal water system. The council also laid out some ideas for a more “mandatory” approach.
